The Great War nominated for INTERNATIONAL DUBLIN AWARD

The International Dublin Literary Award is one of the biggest prizes for fiction

We are very proud to be able to announce that one of our titles - The Great War - has been nominated for the International Dublin Literary Award 2016 (formerly the Dublin Impac). This is the second major award for which it has been nominated, having been shortlisted for the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize 2015.

Historian and biographer, Mark Thompson, described it thus in his TLS review of March 13th (attached):
"The narrative sweeps along, its sheer self-assurance is endearing....This may be the most noteworthy comic novel about the First World War since Jaroslav Hasek's The Good Soldier Svejk (1923).''

And it was included in Eileen Battersby's round-up of the award long list in the Irish Times Monday, November 9th:

''This is an immensely important, layered narrative looking at the First World War from the Serbian viewpoint. A huge bestseller in the Balkans, Will Firth’s translation is no less than heroic... rewarding and insightful, a characteristic piece of bold publishing from the independent Istros press.''
